Contemplative Mastery – An Engaged Conversations Series
Contemplative Mastery is a one to two-year contemplative journey. Rather than focusing on hands-on techniques, this series invites Reiki Masters and experienced Reiki practitioners into a deep, reflective exploration of what “mastery” truly means in Reiki practice and teaching.
Together participants deeply reflect and actively engage in discussions on topics such as:
- How to improve as a teacher for the benefit of the students they teach
- What can be put in place to truly benefit students, support their development on the Reiki path, and help them gain meaningful experience
- Terminology used in training (Reiki I, II, III / First, Second, Third Degree; Reiki Master vs Reiki Teacher)
- Personal understandings of Reiki mastery and the stages of mastery over a lifetime
- How to discern when a student is ready for Master training, and when one is ready to train others as teachers
- Whether and how Reiki Masters function as gatekeepers of the system
- Ways to improve the opportunities available to students
Through guided reflection, shared stories, and respectful dialogue, participants have the opportunity to examine their own methods of student training, explore different approaches to preparing and training Reiki Masters, clarify personal ethics and standards, and envision supportive structures such as Reiki shares, mentoring groups, and supervised Reiki clinics.
This is not a technical training in how to give initiations, nor a step-by-step “how-to” for a particular lineage. Instead, Contemplative Mastery offers a held space for mature practitioners to reflect, question, and deepen the inner foundations of their role as Master and teacher.
Structure & Commitment
- Duration: One to two years
- Format: 24 contemplative classes held over the course of the program
- Focus: Philosophical, ethical, and experiential aspects of Reiki mastery and teaching (not hands-on practice)
The pace and design support slow integration over time, allowing participants to bring insights from their practice and teaching back into the circle, and to grow through ongoing dialogue.
Who This Program Is For & Application
This program is intended for Reiki Masters and experienced Reiki practitioners who are teaching or preparing to teach; those who wish to deepen the integrity, clarity, and maturity of their Master-level work; and practitioners who value reflection, conversation, and community as paths to understanding.
Because of the depth of the work and the interactive nature of the series, participation is by application. As part of the selection process, prospective participants are invited to submit a written reflection on their Reiki journey and practice, their teaching history (if applicable), and their motivation and intentions for joining the program.
